One of the few attractions we really wanted to see while visiting Mar del Plata for a few days was the Museum of the Sea or "Museo del Mar".

This expansive museum was constructed in 1930 and features four levels of displays with over thirty thousand sea shells from all over the world.

Museo del Mar is located at Avenida Colon 1114 and the staff can be reached at 451-9779. Visitors are welcome on Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM and on Friday to Sunday from 10 AM to 9 PM.

The entrance fee for adults is $20 ARS pesos (~$5 USD), $18 ARS pesos for children and retired people. A family of four with two adults and two children can purchase the Family Plan for $60 ARS pesos.

Some of the other attractions at the museum include a cinema, a theater, a meteorological station, and the interactive "curiosities of the world" games for children. There are also a few aquariums filled with fish and other sea creatures that are native to Argentina.
