After a few weeks of exploring Buenos Aires, we decided to join almost everyone else who lived in the city and take a relatively inexpensive four hour bus ride (250 mi. / 400 km) down to the small city of Mar Del Plata on the Atlantic coast.

The majority of Mar Del Plata's economy is based upon this seasonal tourism from Argentinean people who live in Buenos Aires and to a lesser extent, all the other parts of Argentina.

It's obvious that the expansive Mar Del Plata beach or "playa" is the main attraction here. We also visited the Museo Del Mar (Museum of the Sea), walked through the outdoor shopping district, checked out the colorful sand sculptures, and strolled down the pier.
